I20110511
Washington, DC
August 31 - October 2, 2011
I20110511 is a portal to another time and place. Similar to a votive or shrine, it stands as a self-reflective window on the personal journey we all take through time and space. I20110511 functions as a psychic connector, designed with the sole intent of creating a memory of the viewer’s experience with it. By activating this memory at a later date— the day the viewer stood in front of a bright fluorescent apparatus while gazing upon their reflection in a mirror— the portal will have fulfilled it’s function. It will have established itself as a conduit through time, mentally transporting the viewer back to the initial moment they experienced I20110511.
I20110511. Includes two cymbal stands, two 4’ fluorescent lights, 12 gauge electrical cord, one surge protector, string, and a 1 x 4’ mirror. Approximately 6 x 4' 2011

Collapsing space and time through multiple vantage points where two dimensional drawings become three dimensional wall installations, these visual translations used my Memory Drawings as the basis for examining the potential of the white gallery cube to transport viewers into a parallel universe.
